Please do the following: 1. Your OS/LibreOffice version; 2. Your locale; 3. A test document which you expect to see synonyms; If everything is underlined it means you're missing your dictionaries. This largely depends on your OS - if you need assistance with installing dictionaries, please email the user list. Marking as NEEDINFO - if you install your dictionaries and still hit the same problem please provide the above information and then set the bug to UNCONFIRMED.
