             Bug #: 46977
Summary: File -> Save As... often fails to work as expected
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: LibO 3.3.4 release
          Platform: x86 (IA32)
        OS/Version: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

Steps:

1. I have an already open document (e.g. 'doccy1'.
2. I make some obvious large changes to the document.
3. I perform a 'save as..,' so I can have two copies of the document. I save it
as say 'doccy2'.

Expected result:

The current document should now be 'doccy2' containing all the changes, and it
should be save to disk.

Actual result:

The file 'doccy2' IS created on disk, HOWEVER the changes I made have
disappeared and it's actually a carbon copy of 'doccy1'. Also the current
document is 'doccy1'. So all the 'save as' has actually done is do the
equivalent of 'cp doccy1 doccy2' in the background!!!!

This has happened to me on at least five occasions in the past week! At first I
thought 'user error' but sadly not!

SIDE NOTE:

Why don't you have a 'send bug' actually in Libre Office help menu or
something? It seems with linux / freeware apps I always have to register at
some different website in order to report a bug. This mean I only report about
10% of bugs, even though I report bugs far more than most of the general public
who probably don't bother at all.

If developers make it easier to provide feedback and bug reports at a click of
a button, then the product improves a LOT. Under-reporting of bugs means major
less common bugs are less likely to be found as quickly.

One-click bug reporting is needed! The investment of adding the one-click
reporting is far less than the benefits received in it's implementation.
