There is an incredibly easy workaround: 1. Jan 2014 *See change to date which is expected when auto correct is on 2. Right click -> format cells.... set to "text" 3. Now if you type Jan 2014 again it works fine. This is just auto detect feature which isn't going to be turned off for corner cases.
