Simply put, unless someone has the means to fix it themselves, or pay a developer to do it either directly or via a support contract, then this is never going to happen. Ranting about what should or shoudn't be done won't change that. This is the same for virtually all of the bugs that are OSX specific - I too have my pet hates, but as I'm unable to either fix them myself or pay someone the required appropriate amount of qualified programmer time to do it for me, I'll make do.
