Formatting text sample

In cell A1 I typed in text: ABCDEF. Now I would like to have a formatting of
this text like: AB-CD-EF (so minus sings every two letters). I have tried
searching formatting in Format | Cells but no formatting for text is found. For
example for numbers is very simple format just use Format | Cells | Numbers tab
| Format code input box type in: ##-##-##. Please add support for formatting
text the same way as numbers?
