O.K. - I'm on to something, and I think its related to the install on 'Duke'

1. any form of the 'vlookup' without the left multiply value was O.K.
2. multiply a constant with 'vlookup' was O.K.
3. multiply 'value(...)' with 'vlookup' failed.
NOTE: re-opening the file did not go through 'recovery'.
4. I copied the file to 'King", and the very simplest 'vlookup' copy failed.
5. re-opened the file on 'King', saved the file and closed LO.
NOTE: re-opening the file DOES go through 'recovery'.
6. re-opened the file on 'King' and all cells copied down O.K.
7. copied that file back to 'Duke' and the simplest 'vlookup' now fails

NOTE: Since the release version of Kubuntu does NOT include LO 3.5.x, the
install on all 3 machines was done following the instructions on:
http://www.webupd8.org/2012/02/install-to-libreoffice-350-in-ubuntu.html

at this point, I will re-install LO on 'Duke' to see if the problem goes away -
it appears, however, that somehow the error cause gets carried in the file but
gets fixed when a 'recovery' occurs. don't know why 'Duke' does not do the
'recovery'
