Using Writer with Mac OS X causes many health problems.
Alternative title: The unstable version of LibreOffice, labeled as "stable"
causes unstable minds.
After wasting countless hours redoing lost work, I put that time to a much
better use and made this video about the bugs:

Here's a quick list of the TOP 5 things crashing Writer:
1. Selecting "No Fill" as background color
2. Adding a gray border
3. Adding a 10pt border
4. Adding columns to a footer
5. Selecting "Automatic" font color
These are just the TOP 5.
All joking aside, I tested this on 3.5.1, Mac OS X (Snow Leopard and Lion).
Clean installations with ~/Application Support/LibreOffice removed prior
launching.
The version is completely unusable as there are hundreds of things that cause a
crash.
The only workaround I've found is to use an older version (even the 3.4 has
similar problems) or just run Ubuntu on a VM.
