Bug #: 47485
Summary: Cannot set default fonts. Some letters appear as
symbols when opened in Windows 7.
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
Setting basic fonts as per instructions in your manuals only makes my settings
become default when creating an rtf by clicking on Ubuntu 11.10's LibreOffice
Writer desktop icon. Using the right-click menu on the desktop, or in any
folder, creates an rtf file that does NOT have those default settings. Instead,
it reverts to Liberation Serif, size 12.
I've tried every method I can think of to set all fonts as Arial, size 14. I've
set them under both the "LibreOffice" group and the "LibreOffice Writer" group
in the Options selection under Tools. I've also tried making these settings via
an rtf file created FROM the desktop and folders.
Furthermore, when I open these same rtf files in Windows 7 64-bit, some of the
characters display as odd symbols. Most often an "s" after an apostrophe will
appear as a group of 2 to 3 symbols. Other letters change occasionally, as
well, though I haven't made a list of them for you.
I haven't had a chance to test yet if this only happens with the Liberation
Serif font. I had hoped to get rid of that font by default, first, in order to
speed up my work.
Thanks for your attention. I hope I'm not missing something in the settings. If
I am, it's not very obvious, and that might be something you could change for
us, if so.
