Could reproduce with 4.3.3 on Linux by clicking in the formula and then back to the document (I installed Times New Roman first). The formulas shrunk vertically a bit, the left one more than the right one. No repro on other tested versions. I guess we could request a backport of whatever it was that fixed this?
