I gave a better and longer answer in the email, but briefly, I'm trying to
improve assert(). The above are all abuses of the word "assert" as they only
log. These must be changed into logging or assertion.

My purpose is to have more control over assertion, as assert() is very limited
in its behavior (more on this in the mail thread).

Because there is nothing even remotely similar to what I'm proposing. Because
it will not add complexity or work (ok, a little,) and because I'd like to help
get rid of those fake assertions.

I agree with Stephan that email is better for this discussion, butw anted to
respond to your points.
