So I'm going to consider: Problem 1 "cannot use existing .odb file" as WORKSFORME. Problem 2 "cannot (easily) create new .odb file connecting to .accdb" as FIXED. If anybody has problem 1 in any version (from a currently maintained branch), please open A NEW CLONE of this bug.
