I have this problem and so did my friend after installing 4.4.0.3-release. We
opened a writer instance and started playing with it. And the spellcheck wasn't
working correctly in the first document we opened. All other created documents
had a spellcheck that was working correctly (tested by using the English
dictionary and using the word Gross as our correct testcase and Grose as an
incorrect testcase). Seems like a first-run post-installation issue.
