With mailmerge "Letter" just means any Writer document - so the functionality
is already there.

1) Open Writer document
2) F4 - choose datasource
3) Drag and drop your fields to where you want them in your Writer document.
4) Optionally save as a template
5) Ctrl-P - a message is displayed telling you that the document contains
database fields and whether or not you want to do a mailmerge - answer yes.
6) Select the datasets you wish to insert in your Writer document, and choose
output to file instead of printer.
7) Save the output file to a name of your choice.

The merged Writer document will be saved with the data merged into it (but not
automatically re-opened).

Ctrl-P or File > Print is a pretty straightforward command.

If you want an alternative to what mailmerge can offer, use the ReportBuilder
from within your ODB database file and create Reports - the output of these are
Writer documents.
