Ctrl+right/left just looks for white space characters (tab, space, minus, etc.) and not line feed. If you need an option to select a paragraph you may use the triple click. For keyboard access we'd have to define a new key, which makes sense. I'd suggest alt(+shift) + pos1/end as default to jump to the beginning or end of the paragraph.
