Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium

1.7Mb (ish) file (doc format)
I double-click the attached file to open with LO4.4. It loads up LO, then
rushes through the progres bar apparently loading the file then sits with a
blank place (plus rulers) where the document should display. I have waited
over 2 minutes before giving up. System Monitor says it is using 1.2Gb Virtual
Memory and about 95 to 100% CPU. This latter is not constant so maybe it is in
a loop rather than perpetual pause.
I also have LO3.6 on the same machine. This displays the file happily in about
10 sec. System Monitor says it is using 1.4Gb and 90-100% CPU, although that
doesn't stop my editing the file in LO.
History of the file: (reason it looks like rubbish is given at the end)
Originally created a long time ago in Word95 before copying over to the Linux
box. I used it and edited it extensively in OpenOffice (pre v3.3) but have
only wanted to refer to it in LO days very recently.
I have tried saving it in odt format from LO3.6. This makes no difference to
the LO behaviour, neither 4.4 nor 3.6.
The original file is copyright, so I have used the tr command to change every
letter and number to 'a'. This has messed up the appearance of the file and
seems to have raised the page count from about 1300 to 6595. There were no
images, headers, footers or footnotes in the original, it was all just text.
