Suppose you have a calc file with two tabs.
On tab 1 you place an image.
save and close file.
Now: Whenever you open the .ods the image on tab 1 is NOT displayed (only the
placeholder).
However: if you then click on tab 2 and then change back to tab 1 (by clicking
on tab 1), the image is shown.
So it seems the image is not displayed only directly after the file was opened
and the tab with the image is loaded for the first time.
BTW, this behaviour is exactly the same if you place the image on tab 2 and tab
2 is displayed after file load.
I re-tested with an empty .ods with just two tabs and an image in each tab.
Obviously, this worked in versions of LO before 4.4
