New Text Document. 2. Table → Insert Table → Default 2x2. Note: Table → Table Properties → Table tab shows Alignment as Automatic. I have 2cm margins, so the table with is 17.00cm. 3. File → Save As → MS Word 97/2000/XP/2003 (.doc) → Confirm File Format → Use MS Format. 4. Close and reopen document. Note: Table → Table Properties → Table tab shows Alignment as Left. Width is still 17.00cm. 5. Type “test” below table. 6. File → Save → Confirm File Format → Use MS Format. 7. Close and reopen document. Result: Table → Table Properties → Table tab shows Alignment as Left. Width is now 17.01cm with Spacing Right as -0.01cm. 8. Table → Table Properties → Table tab → set width to 17.00cm and OK. 9. File → Save → Confirm File Format → Use MS Format. 10. Close and reopen document. Note: Table → Table Properties → Table tab shows Alignment as Left. Width is still 17.00cm. 11. Type “test” after the first “test”. 12. File → Save → Confirm File Format → Use MS Format. 13. Close and reopen document. Result: Table → Table Properties → Table tab shows Alignment as Left.
