If it IS as per specification - and the specification seems very wrong if it is - wouldn't it make sense to remove the feature altogether instead of frustrating users who can't make it work? There is a nice workaround: 1. go to "Insert" menu 2. Pick "manual break" 3. Choose "page break" 4. Choose a page template 5. Choose a page number and check "Change page number" With this workaround, the feature (that doesn't work anyway, or only works for frankly unsatisfactory values of "work"), the feature won't be missed.
