(^.) in search box does not find ONLY the first character of each line. It find
all characters 1 by 1.
On linuxmin, with writer v 4.2.8.2 i have no problem.
on lmde2 with writer v 4.3.3.2 it works but there is another problem. (.$) does
exactly the same thing as (^.) on windows but starting from the end of the
line.
