Bug ID: 91399
Summary: Please add a "convert to number" menu option for cells
starting with an apostrophe
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]

Hello,
Users often import data from CSV files and the like, and numbers sometimes
start with an apostrophe so that they are handled as strings, for example:
'123
'456
'789
LibreOffice users frequently want to convert those items into numbers, but
there is no easy, intuitive way to do so:

In Microsoft Excel, there is a very easy way to convert strings to numbers:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/291047
Please add a similar "Convert to Number" menu item to LibreOffice.
Thanks!
