Bug ID: 91903
Summary: Incorrect word "etc" in US English dictionary
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 4.4.3.2 rc
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
The US English dictionary contains the non-word "etc". Hence, if the
(mandatory) period is forgotten from the end of the abbreviation, it is not
marked as wrong as it should be.
To be clear:
Correct: etc.
Wrong: etc
But both are marked right.
In the UK English dictionary, "etc" is marked wrong (correctly!). As far as I
can tell, US English authorities, such as the Chicago Manual of Style, require
the "." on the end.
