Bug ID: 92716
Summary: Base Reports Charts: Resize causes "Bad Allocation"
exception C++ Runtime Error Crash
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: Other
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Chart

demo database concerning bug: browse to Report1 : click on graph try to resize
right size larger per description
In short, it is easily possible to configure a chart in LO Base so as to
predictably cause a "bad allocation" crash when it, or anything else in the
report in edit mode, is resized using the GUI right-hand-side size markers. I
have prepared Report1 in the accompanying attachment in just this way.
The configuration suggests incomplete integration between Chart and the BASE
Report module.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create report.
2. Create a group header in the report.
3. Add a chart to the group header.
4. Use a table source for the chart that has more than two columns
5. Double click in the chart until you have access to the chart configuration
menu
6. Right click, select data source, unclick the data labels box.
7. Go to the right-hand tab, delete some of the first couple of data series',
change the 'categories' to a column number like 1.
8. click out of the chart configuration
9. maybe in chart configuration resize some of the internal components, chart
wall, etc.
10. maybe save, go back into the report in edit mode.
The accompanying Report1 in the demo database has been prepared in this way.
11. click once on chart to get size markers to appear.
12. use mouse cursor to try to resize right side of chart to make it bigger.
UNEXPECTED RESULT:
"Bad Allocation" crash.
This bug seems possibly related to a failure of the Chart to deal in the usual
way with 'removed' record sources and alternative category names. With a
four-column table, Chart makes it simple to just use two of those columns as
the data source, use one of them as the data source name but Chart seems not
well-integrated with Base/Reports, and so that functionality appears broken
beyond the simplest configurations.
