On OS X it is not that uncommon, in fact, many OS X programs have the feature
built into the window of the application. Here is an example I made for someone
in a different forum to show how it is used:

This same feature, if fixed, would likely lead to the "Open Recent" feature
working as it does on most OS X programs - if you move or rename a file, you
can still access it from the Open Recent file menu (and Dock menu, too). Right
now it works with the Dock menu but not the file menu.
