Dear tommy27, thanks for your question and my most sincere apologies for not
replying earlier to your inquiry. Unfortunately, the machine I was testing LO
on six months ago underwent a serious crash in January, and I am still fighting
to repair it since.

This PC configuration was special in the sense I was using a US keyboard in "US
International" mode, and therefore ended up encountering bugs that most LO
users do not encounter, apparently.

However, I have switched to another machine with a French keyboard since and
cannot reproduce this bug any longer.

In conclusion, I do believe it could be worthwhile to add to the LO standard
test suite a use case including a US keyboard used in "US International" mode
(therefore allowing to enter accented characters thanks to key sequences such
as CTRL+' then e for the French é).
