If you modify the formula in I8 to =DSUM($B$6:$G$30;$E$6;J8:O9) it does not
return an error anymore because G6 is empty. The problem is to know where is
the error, did you forgot the column G in the database range, or did you add an
erroneously empty search criteria?

I tend to prefer clear error message than trying to interpret user typing
errors.
empty/empty is a valid search criteria. If you do not have an empty header in
you database range, it is not the role of Calc to decide if you made an error
in the database range, in the search criteria or elsewhere.

So closing as NotABug. Feel free to reopen if you disagree. In such a case
please argue.
