Bug ID: 93190
Summary: It shouldn't be this hard
Product: Document Liberation Project
Version: unspecified
Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: General
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
This is a problem in itself:
I am attempting to find out what the field "Address ID" in Base is used for.
When I open the documentation manual for LibreOffice Base and do a search for
"Address ID" (without the quotes), it displays search string not found.
Everything on the internet is aimed at solving problems in the code, or how to
set up the field, or how to use the field in a query, or how to use it in mail
merge.
Nothing so far can give me a simple description of what this field is used
for. And thus we find the problem. When I create a new base for addresses with
the Wizard, under personal, it gives me some preset fields. One of which is
Address ID. Which it seems to think I need but cannot tell me why. No Pop-Up
Help. No Description of the data that goes in this field. I understand that the
people in the back rooms, creating and improving this product are hard at work
and understand more about this product than I ever will. But is it being
designed just to be designed?
What about the end users that are attempting to use the product? Don't forget
about us. We don't know everything about this product like you do. So I propose
a simple solution. How about an about section that gives basic information. Not
the "OH MY GOD THIS WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING" information. I have searched
YouTube and every place I can think of to find help. They can show me how to
set it up but not what to use it for. So in the future, a little more, this is
why you need this, or this is what it is used for, or this is what it does, for
the rest of us would be greatly appreciated.
