Bug ID: 93420
Summary: Workaround To Image Misplacement In LO 5.0.0.5
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 5.0.0.5 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Just in case anyone else should happen to have this issue, I thought I'd submit
this bug/workaround.
The Issue:
I created a document in LO Writer 3.4.x.
The document had lots of images
Beneath each image, I had put a descriptive line of text, in the following
(irrelevant) pattern:
Example 01-01: Yada Yada Yada
Example 01-02: Bippity Boppity Boo
Example 01-03: Chim Chiminey
Example 02-01: Hannah Lee
Example 02-02: Raindrops On Roses
Example 02-03: Whiskers On Kittens
Example 03-01: Bright Copper Kettles
Example 03-02: Warm Woolen Mittens
(You get the gist? Just descriptive text for each image [not the real words I
was using after the colons, but the real words are irrelevant] immediately
below each image.)
I uninstalled LO 5.0.0.4 (using Synaptic)
I installed LO 5.0.0.5 (using Konsole as root: rpm -Uvih *rpm)
[Previous to the rpm -Uvih *rpm command, I put the help.rpm in the main RPM
folder and took out the gnome-integration.rpm -- which I routinely do for every
version of LO that I install.]
Using LO Writer 5.0.0.5, I opened the 103-page document that had been created
in LO 4.3.x.
All of the descriptive text had vanished
So, I did some fiddling and discovered that if I used the keyboard combination
ALT + DOWN-ARROW, the image would move down a smidge (less than a millimeter)
and the descriptive text appeared.
I did that for every image (24 of them), and the descriptive text for each
image appeared.
Thus, if anyone discovers that text that had been placed immediately below an
image in a document created in LO Writer 4.3.x disappears when the document is
opened in LO Writer 5.0.0.5, all that person need do is:
1. Open the Navigator
2. Double-click an image in the list
3. Press the keyboard combination ALT + DOWN-ARROW
4. Repeat 2 and 3 for each image
5. Smile joyfully
6. Press the keyboard combination CTRL + S
7. Smile again

My System Is:
PCLinuxOS: 2015.08.13 [arbitrary level I dreamed up, I update every day]
Kernel: 4.1.4-pclos1 #1 SMP Mon Aug 3 15:43:53 CDT 2015 x86_64
KDE 4.14.10
