Can't confirm. The following steps work for me with 5.0.2 under Fedora 22:

1) Enable the drawing toolbar and draw a shape.
2) Right click on the shape and choose "Add Text Box".
3) Click outside the shape, so it lost the focus.
4) Click again in the middle of the shape. You should see now a blinking cursor
inside the shape.
5) At this stage the Insert Table menu/toolbar items are active, allowing you
to insert a table inside this shape.

Could you try this please?
