Bug ID: 94766
Summary: Program Will Not Allow More Than Two Spaces Between
Words In and Between Sentences (Portable Apps Writer)
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 5.0.2.1 rc
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Writer does not allow the user to exercise freedom in controlling the amount of
space between words in a sentence or the amount of space between sentences.
Whenever I press the spacebar from the punctuation mark or previous letter more
than twice, the cursor does not continue to move, and the user has no option
but to place the next character in the frozen spot. This was not a problem with
earlier versions, and I would like to see that freedom restored:
To illustrate what I am trying to say, the cursor continues to move in this box
on this webpage:
Today is the 4th of October. October is a fall month.
Not only did the cursor move -- I also had the freedom to decide the amount of
space I could place between sentences. I believe this is how word processing
should be. My simulation of the same sentences via Writer is shown below:
Today is the 4th of October. October is a fall month.
The amount of space between sentences in this case has been preset and is not
open for editing by the user. This is the scenario that I always encounter in
Writer (the same thing may also be present in Impress). I have gone to the
settings and preferences in user options, but I could not find any appropriate
controls to set the spacing within a line.
Thanks for sharing this with me.
