I can imagine a user, perhaps a statistical or engineering or scientific user, who would use negative numbers quite routinely. Do we actually have such a user? I do not know. It is tempting to suggest that Calc should use some heuristic to guess at the distinction between a hyphen and a minus sign. I fear that that might just turn a somewhat subtle gotcha into an even more subtle one. Not necessarily an improvement. Meanwhile, I am changing the component in this report to ux-advise in order to get the attention of those who think about these subtleties. Meanwhile, I am moving "Calc" into the summary.
