            Bug ID: 95160
Summary: FILESAVE in XLS format fails with Read Error message
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 5.0.2.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Windows (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

When attempting to Save | Save As | Save Copy in XLS format on HP Stream
notebook with either Windows 8 or Windows 10, LO Calc issues this message in a
popup window entitled LibreOffice 5.0.2.2:
. Error saving the document [filename without .extension]
. Read-Error.
. File could not be opened

This read error is reported on every attempted Save, even where the target
filename does not exist.

This happens only on my new "out of the box" HP Stream notebook (which the
retailer (UK's Currys/PCWorld) refuse to accept as faulty. It also occurs
after LO uninstall+redownload+reinstall; and with the current version of Open
Office; and with LibreOffice Still (v4.4.5.2). It happens even with a simple
spreadsheet with a single character "A" in the only occupied cell of the only
occupied sheet.

It does not happen with Save As .ods or .xlsx. It does not happen on any other
PC or notebook I have (with Windows versions ranging from XP to 10).

While an obvious workaround would be to save in xlsx format, for compatibility
with my old-technology peers, I would prefer to use xls.
