While I was proofreading a draft for a paper I notied a slowdown again (MSO DOC 97 file, some embedded graphics), and this time it was with libreoffice-bin (the official binary for Linux in Gentoo v4.4.4.2) on an E-350 APU (somewhat different HW but similar driver stack). Here OpenGL was off, just use HW accel and anti aliasing = 1. (force OpenGL = 0) The slowdown was quite hard. Picture was from different authors (cooperative paper) and might haven been embedded als OLE object (they all seem to use MSO...).
