Same problem here, using LibreOffice 3.4.6 on Debian Squeaze:

installed:
1:3.4.6-2~bpo60+1 0
        100 http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports/
squeeze-backports/main i386 Packages

This is the error message when trying to finalize:

component context fails to supply service com.sun.star.mail.MailServiceProvider
of type com.sun.star.mail.XMailServiceProvider: loading component library
failed:
file:///usr/lib/libreoffice/program/../basis-link/program/pythonloader.uno.so

pythonloader.uno.so was found (apt-file search) in package python-uno.
However, this package was not installed, because

python-uno : Depends: openoffice.org-core (= 1:3.2.1-11+squeeze4) but it is not
going to be installed.

All packages of libreoffice related to UNO are installed:
 uno-libs3
 ure

But libreoffice-emailmerge (1:3.4.6-2~bpo60+1) is not installable due to
missing dependency on python-uno.

Apparently there are two versions of this package:

apt-cache policy python-uno
python-uno:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1:3.2.1-11+squeeze4
  Version table:
     1:3.4.6-2~bpo60+1 0
        100 http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports/
squeeze-backports/main i386 Packages
     1:3.2.1-11+squeeze4 0
        500 http://ftp.debian.de/debian/ squeeze/main i386 Packages

To install the right one, you have to use pinning, like:

# apt-get install -t squeeze-backports python-uno

Then you can install the missing package for mailmerge!
