            Bug ID: 96269
           Summary: renamed custom paragraph deleted on saving
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 4.3.7.2 release
          Hardware: PowerPC
                OS: Mac OS X (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Hello,

I work as a copy editor/preparator on large docs, applying paragraph and
character styles in order for correct further import in InDesign or other
softwares. Therefore I badly need to set styles my way.

When I rename a custom style in the stylist, then save the doc, all renamed
paragraph styles are gone on reopening, and replaced by the parent style or
default style.

This happen only on paragraph styles, not on character styles (did not try with
page, bullets, etc. styles)

This happen even when working under fresh new user profile. I'm using LO 4.3.7
under Mac OS 10.6 (last usable version of LO for that OS, and last usable
version of OS for my computer).

Export as .doc works correctly — in fact, by now i save all my Writer files in
the .doc format :o(

I was intending to use LO for work at the coming season of Financial Report.
Lucky to find this bug before, as it could mean the lost of weeks of work —
styles applied are user data. Unfortunately, i'll have to stay on f* Word if i
don't find another word processor that can manage custom styles.

Way to reproduce :
— create a Writer document and type some texte ;
— define a custom paragraph style and apply it to a paragraph in the doc ;
— save the doc ; you can close and re-open and all is fine ;
— right-click the style in the right-panel stylist, choose Modify ;
— change the name of the style and close the pop-up ;
— save your doc normally and close it ;
— reopen : the custom style is gone and the styled paragraph has gone to parent
(or default).

Does not appear when saving as .doc, style remains correctly as well in Word or
in Writer.

This is very critical for me, just can't use a Word processor that doesn't
handle custom style naming.

Thanks and excuse my english (not a native speaker)
