F&R damages the document content, and the more replacements that are made, the bigger the damage caused. In some ways the damage is made worse by the fact that the damage it causes is a little subtle, so you may not even notice the errors introduced until (like me), you have made so many other changes that you can't simply revert to an earlier copy of your document (assuming you have one). It also means that Find&Replace with regular expressions cannot be used - or at least, cannot be used to do the actual replacement. So it is also a major loss of function: but the data loss is worse.
