Well I would call this workaround.

Sure I honestly know that I am wasting your time and this is my last comment
because I understand I abusing your kindness.

Well why not default to docx format in such a situation (just like MS word) and
not use text. Or if there is an issue with that why not add an additional
conformation step in such situation, like notepad does: Tells you that your
text will not be properly saved in plain text format so change it.

Now when I will be using libreoffice I will create files from it's menu but in
a way it is like if I tell you not to use close minimize maximize buttons and
do it from the menu bar
