             Bug #: 49734
Summary: Duplicating object should be automated
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: UI
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

When user wants to duplicate (copy) an existing object (like an image, drawing
in writer or anywhere else etc.), the usual workflow is:

1) Select original object
2) Pres ctrl+c (or select Copy from menu)
3) Pres crtl+v (or select Paste)

But because the original object is still selected after the step 2, it's
in-place overwritten with its new copy in step 3. Moreover, the user don't
event recognize that the original object was replaced with its copy, an may
think the copying don't even work.

In my opinion, LO should detect that user is pasting the same object right
after it was copied, and in that case de-select the original object (so it
won't be replaced) and paste the new copy in a little distance from the
original object (so user seem the action that just happened).
