            Bug ID: 97239
Summary: & Becomes %26 in Cells,, But Replace All Can't Find
Cell Contents That Match, While Replace Changes %26 to
                    &
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Rather than use = if entering text into cells, I just enter the text. But
after I save the spreadsheet and return to it later, or do some other work with
it, the '&' symbol, used in my password database, have become %26. I've begin
manually changing them back to '&', then decided to do a Replace All. But
Replace All found no matches. After several futile attempts, I tried just
using Replace, and that worked, but I had to manually confirm each change.

Since I'm here, there are three other things worth mentioning:

(1) Merging the contents of two spreadsheets together, keeping in mind four
things:

    (a) If a combined sheet is to be the target, or just one of the two
originals. I'm looking a this as a way to merge efforts from separate PCs.

    (b) Which sheet should dominate if the target involves overlapping rows
and columns.

    (c) Can the merger re-specify a cell as the pivot point where the imported
sheet is to begin merging at. That allows two separate sheets to coexist in
one, allowing manual intervention to complete the work.

    (d) Can text files be imported so that each separate line occupies a cell
in the same column. I can get this by turning off all the field separators,
but I can't uncheck the "Separated by button". Further, under Files, you offer
Export. But you don't offer Import to complement it. Instead, the user has to
use Open... But while opening a file with the extension of .csv offers you the
ability to specify a row for importing to (not a volumn:row), the import will
overwrite what's already there and begin at A1. In other words, the only real
import you suppoort is to bring the import file or spreadsheet in as another
sheet under Calc, then work between the two sheets with copy/cut&paste to get
it all together. But that doesn't work either, as opening a new document closes
out all the sheets currently opened.

But there is a way: Open another instance of Calc, bring up each spreadsheet
or .csv file, and use cut/copy&paste between them. If you want the original
files intact. you should saved that file immediately under a different name.
Certainly not an obvious way, and entails ab it too much work, but do-able.

What's not do-able is dimensioning the whole spread sheet via a Select All
option with the right mouse button. You have to manually select all the rows
and columns, forcing a screen scroll to get it all in if too wide or too tall,
then use those coordinates to set a range. Or to simply use cut/copy&paste,
or to do a Replace all. Besides Select All. You might consider Select to End
of Row and Select to End of Column. Home (pivot cell location), Real Home (A1).
One tap on Select All would only select the range you are currently positioned
over. With that already selected, a second tap would select everything. With
another tap, the selection is dropped.

You could offer a Select Range option for the right mouse button. plus Select
to Start of Row and Select to Start of Column. Add a 2nd key, the Selects in
each case become GoTo's instead. Until you work a big spreadsheet you don't
appreciate how hard it is to move about it using just the arrow keys or mouse
and trying to scroll you way from one side to the next.
