Bug ID: 97492 Summary: FORMATTING: Writer gradually becomes slow, especially w.r.t applying styles Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.0.4.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: eyal...@technion.ac.il I am working on documents which were originally imported from MS Word (but I've been copy-pasting those files and editing versions of them for years now). They are in Hebrew. They're not so large (~10 pages typically) and have maybe one embedded image. In LO 4.x, everything was hunky-dory, so to speak, and I was editing with ease. Suddently, with LO 5.x, I've began to experience gradual slowdown as I work. This is in the responsiveness of LO in general - it becomes more sluggish - but most of all when it comes to chaging paragraph styles. It gets to the point of me having to wait 10-15 seconds - on a fairly recent Core i5, 3.4 GHz and lots of RAM - to switch from Heading 2 to Heading 3 and back. If I shut down the app - not just the document, but all document windows - and restart it, It's like I reset the slowness level to a reasonable value. At first I thought this had something to do with Paragraph style previews, so I disabled those, but there wasn't a noticeable effect. I also tried another computer, same phenomenon basically. I do think it's worse when the style pane is open, though. I'm not sure if I'm barking up the right tree w.r.t. where the problem lies - maybe it has nothing to do with styles and that's just a symptom - but it is making use of LO almost intolerable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
