            Bug ID: 97843
Summary: Attempts to integrate GNU PSPP with Calc for better
                    statistical analysis
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 5.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Hi all!

The 5.1.x release has brought an enhancement in making statistics. I'm a
sociologist, and for me such feature is a big step forward for Calc
development.

But I've got an idea how to make it even more better: so, what if integrate the
logic and "interface" of GNU PSPP (https://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/) into
Calc? PSPP is recognized as a GNU clone of IBM SPSS. IBM SPSS is one of the
leaders in statistical packages. As far as I found, the work of PSPP is quite
great; the working dialogs and parameters let you make more statistical stuff.
PSPP has a support for ODF files.

F.e., in Calc the regression part or part for Candell/Spearmen tests are done
quite poorly, and need for functionality. Instead of making "bycicles" we could
use PSPP as an additional engine for that. And that will so cool, that MSO
Excel will be far behind :)

What do you think about "combining" PSPP and Calc somehow?

I see here two variants: 1)making some ways to interact between these programs.

2)Or writing a guide for pro-statistical analysis (I can do that. I've got an
experience in both IBM SPSS, GNU PSPP and Calc of course).
