            Bug ID: 98228
Summary: Mac UI imperfections that make UI look non-native
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: Mac OS X (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: UI
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Hello. I have opened this bug to point out some Mac-related UI imperfections
that make LibreOffice look non-native. I think are pretty easy to fix.

1) The background of the toolbar is darker than that of native programs. See,
for example, this screenshot of Keynote from Apple’s website:
https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/OSXHIGuidelines/Art/toolbar_org_2x.png
. Making the gradient of the window brighter, as in every other program, would
also let the new Breeze iconset (which I find quite beautiful!) stand out much
more.

2) The window borders look separated from the rest of the window. Usually, OS X
window borders tend to be merged with the rest of the window. As a nice extra,
even if I don’t know if that’s possible, sometimes you can rename a file
directly from the titlebar of the window. The screenshot show this issue as
well.

3) Mac software uses alignment of buttons in the toolbar to help visibility, as
shown above. I think that by spreading buttons across the entire toolbar you
could improve the UI much more without making big changes to the usage
paradigm.

4) Popups are yellow while they should be grey, as in other Mac software.

5) “Check for updates” should be in the LibreOffice menu and not in Help.

I know that these are little, silly things, and there are probably many bigger
problems, but I use LibreOffice daily and it’s a really great software.
Polishing this things will make it look much better overall.
