In fact the whole LO document UI looked better (back to what it wsa), instead of being white-on-black and occupying about 10% more screen real estate. So as an added bonus of following Adolfo's tip, I now have more space available for the actual text of the document, and a much more pleasant-looking UI. Thank you! I've noticed, over the decades, that retrograde design choices seem to be especially common amongst UI designers, for some reason, and more so for open source projects than others. In my experience, it happens when the people involved "realise" they are so expert that they no longer need to do user trials.
