Hi, thanks for clarification! 
Actually, I was using the "Sidebar" tool to set the distances. Using that, I
can see the the changes instantly, yet LO "forgets" them after
save/close/reopen.

Now I went into the same doc (attchment), marked that list and went into Edit
paragraph Style using the context menu. Style was automatically set to List
Paragraph. In there, the "spacing above paragraph" was 0 (unlike in the
Sidebar). Changed and applied that with no visible change to the document.
Save/Close/Reopen same trouble. 

Temporal solution: Back in the context menu, I unticked the "Don't add space
between paragraphs of same style", applied it. Went back to my beloved sidebar,
changed that spacing above measure. Save/Close/Reopen --> now the spaces above
the list items are properly restored.

Perhaps there is something bananas between the sidebar and the "real config"
thing?
