(see http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile). On Ubuntu, do you have console logs ? If still crashes on Ubuntu, could you retrieve an useful backtrace by following this link http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport#How_to_get_backtrace_.28on_Linux.29 ?
