There are two reasons this is not an acceptable work-around. This issue causes our real documents to "lock up" and Windows says Writer 5 is "not responding" for long periods of *many* minutes. To work-around the issue by navigating and changing fonts would take many man DAYS per document! Secondly, the fonts chosen are the fonts we want to use, and we would prefer not to change them if possible. But I'm working with you on this for the purpose of getting to the bottom of the issue. I'm not sure if it is helpful, but all these documents were created on Windows using OpenOffice 2 or 3, or LibreOffice Writer 3 or 4. The fonts used are all standard Windows fonts like Times New Roman and Courier New. It was not until we recently upgraded to Writer 5 that we started having this issue.
