We have a 2010 Macbook Pro with an SSD drive and 16GB (not a type) of RAM.
Since upgrading to 5.1 accessing Libreoffice induces a beachball
(libreoffice not responding) for up to a minute. We keep between 6 and 9
documents open at a time. mostly Writer documents and couple of
spreadsheets. The documents have tables, but nothing more complicated. The
spreadsheets are also simple - no macros, nothing exotic. Switching between
documents will also cause the beach ball.

These are the current Libreoffice memory settings we've tried. I bumped
some of them up because we have so much RAM
number of steps 15
use for libreoffice 1024
memory per object 2MB
remove from memory after 2.5 hrs
number of objects 40

We also have Java Runtime disabled.

We never saw this beach ball issue before version 5.1. Downgrading is not
an option since there are other Linux machines using the same files and
they are on version 5.1 and there is a file format incompatibility between
version 4.x and 5.x.

How do I file this as a bug, or is there a known fix?

Thanks,
Richafrd
