Those result from autotext replacment of the following trigraphs with paragraph
formatting to set a bottom border edge for the paragraph, resulting in a
horizontal line:

Single line borders
--- (three hyphens)
___ (three underscores)

Double line borders
=== (three equals)
*** (three asterisks)
~~~ (three tildes)
### (three hashes)

Removal of the horizontal line is done by removing the direct formatting from a
paragraph, or by editing the Borders tab in the paragraph dialog.
