On Windows, what is killed is Printer driver host (when I click the X in the
printing dialog). Then I get this error dialog in LibO:
Could not start printer.
Please check your printer configuration

I used NitroPDF.

Changing OS to All, as you mentioned Mac.

Amazingly, could not find a duplicate.
