My first idea was the same as in comment 7 to replicate the Inkscape behavior.
But actually we have an own mechanism, lock by double-click (well known for
clone formatting, for example), which is also pointed out in comment 15. And
surprise, surprise it works right now. So I'd close this bug as WORKSFORME.
