You can try with different backends by launching from the terminal:
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk libreoffice
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 libreoffice
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kde4 libreoffice (if you have it installed)
